Character Name: Margaery Tyrell
Series: Game of Thrones
Timeline: 4x10
Canon Resource Link: Book, Show
Character History: Margaery's early life isn't explained in detail in the books. For the show, Margaery first appears as Renly Baratheon's wife. He had raised an army with Tyrell assistance, naming himself as the rightful King of Westeros. In exchange for the help of her family, Renly married Margaery. She remained loyal to him, seeking to help strengthen his claim by trying to encourage him to get her pregnant, even suggesting that her brother come help arouse him, knowing he is homosexual and in love with Loras.

Renly is killed by Melisandra's powers. As Renly's supporters flee, she and Petyr Baelish arrange a deal, which gains the Tyrell support for the Lannisters. She is betrothed to Joffery and her family's forces come to aid Kings Landing in the Battle of Blackwater, winning the day. Margaery begins to manipulate Joffery to trust her and view her fondness, rather than his normal means of intimidation and cruelty. She particularly uses his fondness for killing, feigning an interest in hunting and an interest in killing as well. Joffery, who was trying to intimidate her about her relationship to Renly, is won over. She encourages him to be kind to the people, assuring him they would love him. Joffery takes her advice, showing his desire to be loved.

Cersei grows wary of Margaery's growing power, attempting to find ways to steal away what she has gained. In the meantime, Margaery befriends Sansa, learning from her what sort of person Joffery is, information she uses to her advantage. She attempts to give Sansa some happiness and try to get her out of the city by arranging a marriage, alongside her grandmother, for Sansa with Loras. However, Cersei discovers the plot through Petyr. In retaliation, Tywin forces Sansa and Tyrion to marry. Margaery offers comfort to Sansa, trying to reconcile her to the idea by speaking of Tyrion's merits, also showing some familiarity with sex as well. She mentions that her son will be King and she seeks to raise him to be a good King, it is why she suffers through Joffery.

Margaery and Joffery marry in a large wedding. Her frustrations begin to show as Joffery's cruelty increases and Cersei under minds Margaery's efforts to provide charity to the people. Her power over Joffery evidently begins to slip, attempting to steer him away from tormenting Tyrion and he ignores her. During the eating of the pie, Joffery begins to choke, dying of poison. Tyrion is accused of murder and Sansa disappears from the city. Margaery takes all of this very hard, feeling cursed that her husbands all die. Her grandmother reveals to her that she poisoned Joffery to protect her granddaughter, encouraging her to befriend and seduce Tommen.

Margaery visits Tommen privately, but at seeing his naivety, does not seduce him. Instead, she encourages a friendship between them, seeing a good hearted boy. Tommen shows a great deal of interest in her, much to Cersei's disapproval. Though she does encourage a marriage between the pair.

During this time, Margaery attends Tyrion's trial, shocked by the events as they unfold, including Tyrion's demand for a trial by combat. Tyrion eventually escapes and murders Tywin, shifting the power in the city to Cersei's favor, which will eventually make matters much more difficult for Margaery. It increases their rivalry and ensures a coming confrontation.
Abilities/Special Powers: None, save for an ability to manage the game of thrones and come through it unscathed. She is able to manipulate with skill and read people well.
Third-Person Sample: She looked about the gardens in open admiration. The blooms and flowers so similar to Highgarden that if she closed her eyes momentarily, she could believe that she was there once again. The rich fragrance soothing her and easing away the initial shock and fear that she had on arrival. This was not King's Landing and she was not in Westeros. How such a thing was possible, she couldn't be certain. She only knew deep in her core that this was true.

The world was different than anything she had seen before. The people in strange garbs, women in pants and short skirts, walking about as though they were not shamed or frightened by such open displays of desire. Did they not fear someone using their fears to their advantage? Did they not fear what men could do? Or were they capable of using all things to their advantage.

Having played the game for so long and relying on her ability to read everyone's faces for inner thoughts, it was a jarring thing to be present amongst so many open and warm people. They didn't mask their feelings or obscure their expressions. How could she trust them? Any of them? How could she trust this place?

Where exactly was she and what was the way home?

First-Person Sample: [She trembles as she lifts the strange device to her ear, listening to the various sounds of a strange and frightening world. Everything is foreign and dark, so much worse than the tales her Septa told her as a child. There are monsters here, but they are the beasts that call themselves men. The castles rise up to the sky and shine with light, not produced by candle but something else. This place is magical and horrid.]

My name is Margaery Tyrell, Queen of Westeros... [She pauses, hearing what sounds like screams in the distance, but slowly and distinctly becomes laughter. Who could laugh in a world like this? Who could feel at ease? It was a constant hunt with hounds at her heels. Worse than King's Landing ever could be.]

I am Margaery Tyrell and I am lost...
